2 DAYS – 4 DIVES – EXPLORE FASCINATING WRECKS
Every wreck offers great opportunities for adventure and new discoveries. In addition, many of the ocean’s best dive sites are wrecks. Ships, airplanes and even cars are fascinating to explore and usually teem with marine life. It doesn’t matter if they are purpose-sunk as an artificial reef for divers, or lost as the result of an event or accident, wrecks are fascinating windows to the past. Often wrecks are protected by laws that guard their historical and cultural importance.
We have two wrecks on the Gili Islands. The Glen Nusa II (a shipwreck) is located at Shark Point within recreational diving limits at about 30 meters depth. There is also the Bounty wreck in between 10 to 18 meters. It lies just south of the Devine Divers house reef off Gili Meno (a sunken jetty with abundant marine. For our wreck training we will also visit the artificial reefs called biorocks off the coast of Gili Tranwangan.
The fun part
The fun part of the Wreck Diving Specialty is to visit different wrecks and artificial reefs. You will gain the knowledge and experience that allow you to see what others might have missed. You will learn how to explore different types of wrecks by investigating their layout, history and hazards. At the same time you will practice specialized wreck diving skills. During the four dives with your instructor, you’ll survey and map a wreck and also practice special finning techniques to avoid stirring up sediments or disturbing marine life.
What you will learn
Upon completion of this program, you will earn your Wreck Diver specialty certification.
This specialty course also count towards the prestigious Master (Scuba) Diver rating.
