Overview Open Water Course on Gili Meno

3 days – 2 confined and 4 open water dives – a new universe at your disposal

Would you like to have the freedom to dive anywhere in the world? Then the Open Water Course with Divine Divers on Gili Meno is for you. This course certifies you to become an independent diver and dive unsupervised with an equally or more qualified buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters. This certification is recognized everywhere in this world and is valid for your entire life.

Your PADI Open Water Diver course will include 4 unforgettable ocean dives by boat on the vibrant coral reefs in the warm waters of the Gili Islands in the Gili Matra marine park. You can expect to encounter shoals of shimmering fish, friendly turtles and stunning (harmless) sharks among a whole host of other marine creatures.

The Open Water Diver Course also includes confined water training sessions to practise skills in our purpose built training pool. You will be required to complete some independent e-learning, in addition to face-to-face theory sessions with your instructor.

Schedule

The course schedule is flexible, and we are used to accommodating your holiday schedule. Although it is possible to complete the PADI Open Water Diver course in 2 days. Generally, you will complete the course over 3 days:

Day 1 (08:30 – 13:30)

• Learn about fundamental diving theory, understand basic safety requirements and familiarise yourself with the equipment.
• Practice breathing underwater, swimming with the scuba equipment and basic dive skills in our swimming pool.
• Dive down to get your first taste of the new world that is waiting to be discovered (max debth 12 meters).

 

Day 2 (08:00 – 13:30)

• Learn more theory on dry land.
• Prove your watermanship skills by taking on more advanced skills in the deep end of the pool.
• Meet Gili Meno’s turtles on your second open water dive (max debth 12 meters).

 

Day 3 (08:00 – 13:30)

• Now all your skills have been completed, today is all about diving.
• Make two dives to a maximum of 18m with your instructor, to explore the unique flora and fauna on different dive sites all over the Gili Islands in Gili Matra marine park.
• Pass your final exam.
• Celebrate and receive your PADI Open Water Diver certification.

 

For the 2 day schedule expect to be busy from 08.00 in the morning to 16.30 in the afternoon on both days. It is also helpful to finish the theory in advance if you are short in time.

Please note, the waters around the Gili Islands have been declared a Marine Park. Therefore a one time Marine Park fee of 100.000 IDR has to be paid by all diving and snorkel tour participants. This fee is NOT included in our prices and has to be paid in cash at our dive center on Gili Meno.

Pre-Requisites

To enrol in a PADI Open Water Course with Divine Divers on Gili Meno you must:

• Be at least 10 years old. All divers up to the age of 14 years will be certified Junior Open Water Diver and there are some depth restrictions for 10- and 11-year-olds.
• Be able to swim.
• Complete a Medical-Statement at the dive centre before doing any in-water training. You don’t need to bring a diving medical from a doctor. If you have any additional questions, you can contact us directly.
• No previous experience or qualifications are required, as this is an entry-level course for beginners.
