Overview Adventure Dives on Gili Meno
1 training dive (plus theory) – discover a huge variety of adventures on Gili Meno
Would you like to continue your training, but don’t have time for the full PADI Advanced Open Water Course? Adventure dives are the solution for that!
Adventure Dives open up more diving possibilities and enhance your skills, as you are receiving formal training from an instructor. An Adventure Dive consists of some self-study learning materials, a theory lesson and a training dive. Our experienced and friendly dive instructors will help you choose the right specialties for you.
Each adventure dive contributes towards the full specialty course, or your Advanced Open Water course. That’s great news for those that wish to continue their education at a later date.
Therefore completing an adventure dive will earn you an official recognition certificate that proofs your training. If you for example complete a deep adventure dive, you will be allowed to go to 30 meters even with an Open Water certificate.
Choose your Adventure Dives here
Even though there is a great selection of adventure dives, we will only go into detail and explain adventure dives that (in our humble opinion) make sense for diving the Gili Islands and Indonesia in general. If you’d like any further information on adventure dives not listed here, just drop us a line and we will be glad to assist.
Adventure Deep Dive (most popular)
Gain the knowledge, skills and experience to conduct a dive to 30m. The physics of diving you learnt during your Open Water Course is most important to understand when diving deep; your instructor will show you how pressure, temperature, colours and the human body is affected by increasing depth. Depth is limited to 21m for divers under 15 years old in line with PADI training standards.
Adventure Night Dive (second most popular)
The idea of diving at night can be scary, but diving in the dark opens up a new nocturnal world to explore. We think it’s better to experience your first night dive with an instructor, which is why it makes the perfect addition to your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course.
Entering the water at twilight allows you to see how the reef changes, with night hunters coming out and the usual fish you’re used to seeing in the daytime heading off to sleep! Light up the world with a dive torch, and learn proper procedures for night diving.
Adventure Dive Peak Performance Buoyancy (should be more popular)
Buoyancy is the most important aspect of diving, therefore most instructors strongly recommend completing this adventure dive. It is a perfect introduction to your course, as the techniques your learn will be used every time you enter the water.
Improve your buoyancy, trim, comfort and control by focusing on breathing, buoyancy, positioning and finning techniques. We aim to increase your dive time by reducing your air consumption, and reduce the amount of weight you need to dive with.
Adventure Drift Dive (popular)
The perfect choice for diving on the Gili Islands, as we are lucky to be able to drift dive year round. Learn techniques on entering the water and diving in a current. You will also learn how to deploy a surface marker buoy and enjoy learning how to dive comfortably and controlled in strong currents.
Adventure Wreck Dive (popular)
Wrecks are cool! Fish think so too; they are hotspots for biodiversity and shipwrecks have been used as a way to increase fish life since the 17th century. Their history will make your imagination run wild and they are extremely exciting to explore. You can explore 2 wrecks in the Gili Islands with Divine Divers:
The Glen Nusa Shipwreck is located at Shark Point within recreational diving limits at approximately 28m depth. The Bounty wreck sunk to a maximum depth of 18m and is just south of our house reef. Both wrecks are home to an abundance of corals, shoals of fish and are perfect for completing the wreck dive as part of your course.
Adventure Dive Fish Identification (mainly popular as part of an Advanced Course)
For most people, the biggest reason to go diving is to see all the different, unique and unusual marine life below the waves. Knowing what species we are watching, what they are doing and where they live means you will get even more enjoyment from each and every dive as you piece together the beautiful puzzle of the marine ecosystem with more knowledge and more first-hand experience.
You’ll learn how to identify and categorise different species and families, learn about symbiotic relationships and where to find different species so you never dive without spotting your favourites!
Adventure Navigation Dive (only popular as part of an Advanced Course)
Embrace the challenge of navigating your own dive underwater, and learn advanced techniques for underwater navigation using a compass. This is especially important for adventurous divers who wish to dive without a guide – you will learn to keep track of your location, make your way back to your entry point, or find dive sites without a visual reference.
Adventure Dive Photo and Video (popular as a specialty program)
A dive that will teach you the basics of shooting videos and photos underwater. From learning how to use a camera in this environment, an introduction to white balancing or using lights and buoyancy control. You will also really focus on slowing down and examining the dive site.
In our opinion you will get the most out of underwater photography and videography if you are a little more advanced.
When booking your Adventure Dive please let us know in the “additional information field” which dive you are interested in.
